Find answers to frequently asked questions about the SgIS Mid-Term Scholarship. The Mid-Term scheme is for students who are currently pursuing their undergraduate studies at a local or overseas university. There are two schemes available: Mid-Term (Local) and Mid-Term (Overseas).

LOCAL UNIVERSITY

Mid-Term (Local)

For students currently studying at a local autonomous university.

Grant Amount:

• S$50,000 (more than 2 years remaining)

• S$30,000 (1-2 years remaining)

  • Universities: NTU, NUS, SIT, SMU, SUSS, SUTD
  • Bond: 2-3 years
  • Must have completed at least 1 semester
  • Not in final year of study

Mid-Term (Overseas)

For students currently studying at an overseas university.

Grant Amount:

• S$60,000 (more than 2 years remaining)

• S$40,000 (1-2 years remaining)

  • Universities: Approved overseas universities
  • Bond: 2-3 years
  • Must have completed at least 1 semester
  • Not in final year of study

Q: Can I apply if I'm in my final year?

No. You must have completed at least 1 academic semester and must not be in your final year of study at the point of application. Read more →

Q: What's the difference between Local and Overseas schemes?

The main difference is the grant amount. Overseas students receive higher grants (S$40,000-S$60,000) compared to local students (S$30,000-S$50,000). Both have the same bond period of 2-3 years. See comparison →

Q: How is the grant amount determined?

The grant amount depends on your academic years remaining at the point of application. More years remaining = higher grant and longer bond. Learn more →

Q: Can I pursue a Master's degree after graduating?

SgIS scholars may seek approval from their sponsoring organisations to pursue a Master's degree. Approval is subject to the organisation's needs, and the bond period may increase proportionately. Read more →
