Do I need to secure a place in the university before applying for the scholarship?
No, you do not need to have secured a place in the university before applying for the scholarship. You will be required to indicate the university and courses that you have applied to in their online application form.
Successful applicant is required to produce supporting documents that states his or her placement in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore Management University (SMU) or Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) before scholarship can be awarded.
Is there a list of approved universities that I should apply to?
Applicants who are seeking admission or have been accepted for admission into Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore Management University (SMU) or Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) may apply as long as they are embarking a full-time undergraduate degree with the university.
Which courses of study can I take up in university?
The sponsoring organisations are from a wide range of industries and will need talents from diverse courses of study except Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Veterinary Science and other healthcare-related disciplines.
Applicants should refer to the sponsoring organisations approved Courses of Study for more information.
If I am not accepted into an approved course of study required by my sponsoring organisation, will my scholarship be withdrawn?
If the sponsoring organisation is not willing to sponsor your undergraduate studies due to failure to gain acceptance into an approved course, applicants may be released without penalty by their sponsoring organisation.
What if I decide not to take up an approved course of study after receiving an offer from an approved university and choose another course of study that is not explicitly approved by my sponsoring organisation?
SgIS scholars must consult their sponsoring organisation before making any changes to the course of study. In the event that the sponsoring organisation is not willing to fund their scholarship for this alternative course, he or she will be liable for the $1,000 penalty if they have already signed the Letter of Undertaking.
Do I have to maintain a certain academic standard during the period of my undergraduate studies? What is that minimum requirement?
SgIS scholars are required to pass all official modules and be on course to complete a degree with honours. Scholars will receive specific guidelines after their university and course have been confirmed and should consult their sponsoring organisation to find out more about the expected academic standard.
