Mid-Term Eligibility Criteria

Who can apply for the SgIS Mid-Term Overseas?

  • Singapore Citizens whom are currently pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree in an overseas university
  • Have completed at least 1 academic semester in university and have not embarked on final year of study at point of application
  • Good undergraduate results across all disciplines (excluding Medicine, Dentistry and other healthcare-related disciplines) from overseas universities
  • Good Co-curricular Activities (CCA) and leadership achievements
  • Passion to contribute to Singapore’s strategic sectors

Applicants must have completed at least 1 academic semester, and have at least 1 academic year (or 2 academic semesters) remaining in the overseas university at point of application.


Who can apply for the SgIS Mid-Term Local?

  • Singapore Citizens whom are currently pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree.
  • Have completed at least 1 academic semester in university and have not embarked on final year of study at point of application
  • Good Co-curricular Activities (CCA) and leadership achievements
  • Passion to contribute to Singapore’s strategic sectors
  • Good undergraduate results across all disciplines (excluding Medicine, Dentistry and other healthcare-related disciplines):- Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
    - National University of Singapore (NUS)
    - Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)
    - Singapore Management University (SMU)
    - Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)

Applicants must have completed at least 1 academic semester, and have at least 1 academic year (or 2 academic semesters) remaining in the local university at point of application.


What must my university grade i.e. Grade Point Average (GPA), Cumulative Average Point (CAP) or equivalent be to be considered for the scholarship?

Applicants with good academic results, CCA records, leadership achievements and passion to contribute to Singapore’s strategic sectors will be considered.


Will my academic results for GCE A Levels / International Baccalaureate (IB) / Polytechnic or NUS High School Diploma be taken into consideration for the scholarship?

Applicants’ pre-university (GCE A Levels / IB / Polytechnic or NUS High School Diploma) academic and non-academic achievements will be taken into consideration for the scholarship.


Am I still eligible for the scholarship if I have less than 1 academic year remaining in my course of study during point of application.

Am I still eligible for the SgIS Mid-Term Overseas or SgIS Mid-Term Local if I was unsuccessful in my previous application to SgIS Full-Term. 

Yes, you are eligible as it will be considered as a new application.
