How is the application cycle like for SgIS Full-Term?

Application Cycle

After the closing of the application, applicants who meet the selection criteria will be surfaced to the sponsoring organisations indicated in the application form.  Applicants who are further shortlisted by the sponsoring organisations will be contacted for interviews between April to July.  Only successful candidates will be notified about the award of scholarship.

Can I apply for SgIS Full-Term scholarship if I have yet gotten a placement in an university?

For SgIS Full-Term, applications are welcome at any point of time before you commence your undergraduate studies. You will be required to indicate the university and courses that you have applied to in your online application form.

Successful applicant is required to produce supporting documents that states his or her placement in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore Management University (SMU) or Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) before scholarship can be awarded. 

Do I have to indicate which sponsoring organisations I am interested in and how many sponsoring organisations can I select? Do I have to rank them?

Applicants may indicate up to 5 sponsoring organisations from the available list of sponsoring organisations.

Applicants should consider carefully the level of interest to work and grow in that specific industry and sponsoring organisation and rank them accordingly. The ranking will be taken into consideration by the sponsoring organisations during the selection process. 

What does it mean to indicate that I am willing to be considered by all other sponsoring organisations?

In the event that you are not shortlisted by your chosen five sponsoring organisations, you may wish select your secondary list of sponsoring organisations that you wish to consider for SgIS.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the sponsoring organisations for further selection and interview.

How is the selection process like?

Assessment and selection practices may differ based on the needs of sponsoring organisations. Besides at least one interview, shortlisted candidates may be required by some sponsoring organisations to write responses to essay question(s) prior to/after the interview or complete certain required tests. You will receive more information when the sponsoring organisations contact you during the shortlisting process.

When will I know if I have been shortlisted? When will the selection process take place?

The selection period is from April to July. Depending on suitability of applicant and sponsoring organisation’s human resource needs, only shortlisted applicants will be informed and invited for interview with the sponsoring organisations.

How will I know that I have been successfully shortlisted and offered with the scholarship?

If you have been successfully shortlisted, you will be contacted by the sponsoring organisations to participate in their selection processes. Successfully selected candidate will receive a scholarship offer letter from the sponsoring organisation.

If I have attended interviews with more than one sponsoring organisation, will I be considered for the scholarship by all these organisations?

You may be invited to participate in the selection processes of more than one sponsoring organisation, based on your indicated choices in the online application. If you are successfully selected to be offered the scholarship, the sponsoring organisation will send you a scholarship offer letter.

If more than one sponsoring organisations offer me the scholarship, can I choose which to accept?

Applicants may choose between offers. However, applicants can accept only one offer by the deadline indicated in the scholarship offer letter – the chosen sponsoring organisation must receive the Letter of Undertaking with applicant’s signature by the stated deadline.

Can I sign multiple copies of the Letter of Undertaking with the sponsoring organisations?

If applicants submit more than one signed copy of the Letter of Undertaking, applicants will be liable to pay the $1,000 penalty to the sponsoring organisation(s) involved. The sponsoring organisation(s) will also reserve the right to retract their offers.

When is the deadline for submitting my acceptance of offer?

The deadline for submitting the acceptance of offer will be indicated in the scholarship offer letter – your chosen sponsoring organisation must receive the Letter of Undertaking with your signature by the stated deadline.

What does the scholarship offer letter comprise?

The scholarship offer letter informs applicants of the scholarship scheme that he or she has been offered, the sponsoring organisation, the course(s) of study that the sponsoring organisation is willing to support, the university that the scholarship is tenable for and some basic terms and conditions.

Successful applicants need to sign a Letter of Undertaking which is attached to the scholarship offer letter and return to the sponsoring organisation by the stated deadline as acknowledgement and acceptance of the terms and conditions of the scholarship offer.

Will I be liable for any penalty if I decide not to take up the scholarship after accepting the offer?

In the event that the successful applicant chooses not to take up the scholarship after submitting the Letter of Undertaking, the applicant will be liable to pay a $1,000 penalty to the sponsoring organisation.

    My name is Sami Djeddi, i'am a graduate from emirates aviation university based in Dubai , i was going through this site and i have found some interesting scholarships and i would like to know if i can do a training for 2 years at SIA company of engineering i have graduated from aircraft maintenance licencing B1.1 Mechanical and i have done a training at Emirates Airlines for 3 months in the EK Engineering department.It is highly important to do a training for 2 years at a recognized MRO under EASA part 145 approved .
